It was a simple thought, or in this case,
the ignorance about the happenings in the state, that blossomed into something
that would act as a means of convenience for Goans. Advait Naik, an IT
professional from Panjim and the inceptor of Ticketpapa.com, reminisces, “I
remember sitting near Kala Academy with a friend when our conversation was
interrupted by loud and noisy honking of vehicles. A huge gathering of people
who were there for an event at Kala Academy had resulted in a traffic jam.
Armed with smartphones and laptops, we tried to find out details about the said
event but the lack of any in the online sphere left us wondering. It was this
very realisation that made me think and innovate, and this eventually resulted
in the inception of Ticketpapa.com – a web portal that one can use to buy
tickets for movies, cultural events, concerts and, for the first time, even
tiatr shows happening in Goa.”
Albeit small in size, the state of Goa
plays host to a large number of different kinds of events. For example, if a
renowned Hindustani classical artist is enthralling the audience at Kala
Academy, Club Mambo’s in Baga might be buzzing with the tunes of an
internationally renowned DJ. Despite the availability of this assortment of
events happening in the state, seldom do people know about the exact date and
time of these events; more so in case of tiatr, unless of course one chooses
the tedious process of noting the specifics down at the venue. It was this need
for streamlining all events and providing one platform to the different
segments of audience that propagated the need for Ticketpapa’s existence.
The website has divided the events in three
sub segments – Party Zone, which caters to all the parties happening in the
state; Cultural/Tiatr, which is your go-to tab for cultural performances like
classical dance, music or theatre programmes and Tiatr shows; and the last tab,
Concerts, which allows one to secure their presence for a live music show or
concert happening in Goa. For events featuring under Cultural/Tiatr, one can
post their event free of cost on the website and sell tickets. Furthermore, the
idea is to feature the events happening only within Goa.
