Café: When and how did you foray into DJing?
Ryan
Nogar: Deejaying started out as a youthful interest at the age of 17 in 2002,
and then, almost instantly, developed into a passion.
HC:
Who was your mentor / inspiration in your initial years?
RN:
Inspired by most local artists at the time, I would watch and learn from DJ
Joel’s technical skills.
HC:
Any particular incident / gig that turned into a memorable experience?
RN:
Several, actually. Every gig carries with it its own share of memories to take
back home – with both private or public audiences. My most recent favourite
however was Bonderam 2013 where I played for a crowd of over 6,000 people.
Interestingly, what made it my favourite wasn’t the number of people but the
high levels of energy they displayed. Unforgettable!
HC:
What is your signature style of music?
RN:
I love that I can say I am versatile with my music. I play by the audience at
hand – commercial, bollywood, EDM , deep sounds.. However, what I have the
greatest interest in and what I enjoy playing the most is probably Tech-House.
HC:
Being a veteran in the industry, does it bring an added sense of
responsibility?
RN:
Being a part of the industry over the years, the responsibility to perform does
come subconsciously – there is a considerable amount of young talent in the
state itself and there is nothing better than to be an inspiration.
HC:
What would you say about the current nightlife scene in Goa?
RN:
What I love about the present Goan nightlife is that it’s got options.
Nightclubs, karaoke bars, pubs, restaurants with live music, lounges – to suit
varied personalities, moods and tastes.
HC:
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
RN:
I’d say producing my own music and hopefully touring the world.
