This festival has its ‘Heart’ in the right place!

In an exclusive chat with Café, Festival Director of Vh1 Supersonic, Nikhil Chinapa shares exciting info about the festival stages and the mad setup that has been painstakingly shaped to create the infectious vibe at Vh1 Supersonic 2015 in Candolim

With a few days left for the much awaited Vh1 Supersonic to take off, the makers of the electronic dance music festival are banking on the fire power that they have saved (or created) this year, that is sure to attract a huge number of EDM fans to the festival. While the likes of Axwell, DJ duo ‘Disclosure’, Zedd, and others prepare themselves to cast a magical spell that will be etched in the memories of the thousands of fans for a long time to come, at Vh1 Supersonic 2015, it is only fitting that the stage that these artistes will play on, matches the mammoth stature of the artistes themselves. And perhaps for this very reason, the festival stages this year – Iron Heart, Laboratoire Supersonique and Spectrum, that are in their final stages of completion, are bigger, badder and crazier than anything that you had seen last year. IRON HEART To add to the vastness of Vh1 Supersonic, the most anticipated and massive stage introduced in 2014, the Iron Heart, is to grow bigger and better in its size and setup. Grabbing many eyeballs in the previous years, this mammoth of a design defines the main stage of the festival. Vh1 Supersonic 2015 will see a very exciting artiste line up on Iron Heart this time round, with the stunning headliners, Axwell, Disclosure, Zedd, as well as Zed’s Dead, Dubvision, Deorro and many more. The main stage is being hosted by MC Stretch, along with Nikhil Chinapa, Rohit Barker and Sgt Pokes. Festival Director Nikhil Chinapa says, “The main stage was designed with intense detailing using the same design theme as last year – a style called Steam Punk. The idea is for fans to discover something new every time they look at the stage. There are several moving parts on stage which come alive at different times.” LABORTOIRE SUPERSONIQUE Hosted by UKF and Arms House, ‘Labortoire Supersonique’ is the drums and bass stage that promises to bring about the ultimate experience for the drum and base lovers. This stage will be graced by artists such as Mala + Pokes, Dirtyphonics, Culture Shock, Netsky and many more. Chinapa says, “Our Bass stage called the Laboratoire Supersonique is designed to allow for stage parties. This stage has the most infectious vibe of our three stages and it’s common to see fans pulled out of the crowd to party on stage with the artists.” SPECTRUM The techno stage of Vh1 Supersonic, Spectrum witnesses some of the greats in techno performing at the festival. This year, Spectrum would be hosted by The Awakenings, considered as one of the best ‘techno festivals’ in the world. Some of the artistes performing on this stage are Adam Beyer, Joris Voorn, Arjun Vagale, Nic Fanciulli, DJ Pearl and many more. According to Nikhil, “Spectrum is designed as a stripped down stage that delivers an intense audio visual experience. We’ve relied heavily on lasers, LED screens and intelligent lights to deliver what I believe will be an incredible journey in sound and light for fans. We’ve also designed the stage to draw fans into it, to create a warmer, more cosy vibe at this stage. We’ve also received some inputs from Awakenings, the Dutch techno powerhouse on our design.”
