It’s the middle of the 1990s. Dona Paula Jetty is lit up and decorated with streamers and
lanterns. The atmosphere is lively, the band is hopping, and in a reunion of
sorts, hundreds of people are gathered together, milling about and dancing. And
in the midst of it all, a charming young man – ‘Romeo’ for the night – makes
his grand entry through the sea. All eyes and the spotlight are focused on him
– tonight’s the night he will find his ‘Juliet’! Young ladies fight it out
through competitions to make it to the top, to take her place at Romeo’s side,
as the spectators join them for a night filled with love and laughter. ‘Romeo’s
Nite’ was a hit like no other!
Cut to 2018, all these decades later, where flashbacks and
throwbacks to the past are ever-popular, and everything that was old is new
again. The latest golden oldie making a comeback is none other than ‘Romeo’s
Nite’, hosted this time at Bay 15, Odxel Beach, Dona Paula, on May 13, 2018.
“EDM, rock and similar genres have had their time in the sun…
it’s time to go retro now!” say the organisers. With more and more people
showing an interest in popular trends of old, the revival of Romeo’s Nite aims
to show party-goers a good time with a blast from the past! The night promises
to be one filled with groovy music by some of the best bands and DJs around, a fireworks
show to add literal sparkle to the night sky and the atmosphere, and lots more,
upping the glamour quotient. A highlight of the night will be a musical
adaptation of ‘Romeo and Juliet’, the ultimate story of true love that’s been
capturing the imagination and inspiring lovers not just for decades, but for
centuries!
Romeo’s
Nite plans to welcome back several familiar faces, the lively party-goers that
had made the event a spectacle back in the ‘good ol’ days’, as well as everyone
else looking to get in on the retro vibe. With great food, music, love and
laughter, much like it was those twenty-something years ago, Romeo’s Nite at
Bay 15 promises to be a night that not just ‘90s kids, but everyone, will
remember!
