is a day of celebration for several communities that reside in Goa. It is the new year of the Punjabi, Malayali, Bengali, Assamese and Tamil communities. Many have resided here for generations but this is an occasion for them to reconnect with their roots.
Baisakhi is very important for Punjabis anywhere in the world. The community has been present in the state for several decades and has contributed to the economic development of the state. According to members of the community, the CM and the Governor will attend the event being held at the gurudwara. Sandeep Sartaj said the community get together had happened last year too but now without all the restrictions everyone would participate without any fear. There would be events taking place in the evening which would be attended by a lot of people.
The Bengalis are one of the largest communities in the state. Bimal en Deu a former Chief scientist said the community would meet at the International Centre at Dona Paula and have a Bengali lunch that would represent all that was very good in the cuisine of that state.
