WHAT IS BETTER THAN A CHOCOLATE?

Chocolate is a favourite amongst the youth in the country and that holds true in Goa too. With the World Chocolate Day set to be celebrated on Sunday, those who love their chocolate are keen to celebrate it with passion

This Sunday, while a large percentage of the population shall relax and take it easy, there will be people who will indulge in their love of chocolate. The World Chocolate Day is an ideal day to indulge in that most devilish
of delights. World Chocolate Day, referred to, in some instances, as International Chocolate Day,is an annual observance that occurs globally on 7 July. References to World Chocolate Day being observed on 7 July have
been recorded as early as 2009. Celebration of the day includes the consumption of chocolate. Some references indicate that this day celebrates the introduction of chocolate to Europe in 1550.
All very fine you might say but then why is it being celebrated. Our research revealed it was also one of
the most asked question? But also, the most vaguely answered one. It can be safely presumed this day is
being celebrated because of a trend or a tradition that has been followed, a lot of the people celebrating them
are largely clueless about its origins or reasons, and do it more for fun and togetherness.
When it comes to practices like eating chocolates there should not be a particular day or date where we
can celebrate all this. Sunmeet Kaur a teenager from Panjim said “Eating chocolate is part of my DNA. I don’t need to explain it. Who can say no to chocolate? I love it and I have it every day after breakfast, lunch and
dinner. This is my chocolate fix after lunch. I came to the Chocolate Room after having lunch”. She said she intended to someday visit Belgium and sample some of the fine chocolate made in that country. As she put it eating chocolate was a gesture that forms the basic essence of life, if we not performed then life became boring and meaningless.
The love for chocolate is very strong in the state with the Chocolate Room having established five outlets all over the state with business increasing continuously, with their massive Colva outlet, one of the largest in the country
Samuel Rama a staff member at the outlet in Panjim said business was good and they usually serving customers event at 12.30 pm. Despite it being the off season, they had a decent business. Business, he said peaked during Diwali, Christmas, New Year and Valentines Day.
