What lies ahead for FC Goa after Lobera

The last ten days have been quite tumultuous for FC Goa fans with the sacking of Sergio Lobera, the coach behind the success enjoyed by the team. Now however, with the dust having somewhat settled, the question that remains is whether the sentiments that were expressed by the fans against these developments still remain. The focus now shifts to the semis and a possible final. FC Goa fans speak on the road ahead

Will make it to the finals if we stick to Lobera’s philosophy

The boys put up a very spectacular display in the last match and we are the first team to book our spot in the play offs with two matches still in hand. Sergio Lobera’s work can’t be forgotten; he built the team and his absence will always be felt, by the players and the fans. He will always be in our hearts. I think FC Goa will make it to the finals if we stick to Lobera’s philosophy. We can get the trophy this time, and if it happens, all credit goes to Sergio Lobera and his support staff. Forca Goa.

We are really happy with the performance at the last game.

No doubt we are really unhappy with the decision of FC Goa to part ways with Sergio Lobera but we will always stand with the players and protect the crest loud and proud. Sergio Lobera’s legacy will always continue and I am very positive that FC Goa will continue to perform its best and dedicate its success story to Lobera. I am looking forward to the semi finals to be played against Mumbai City FC.  After a heartbreaking loss at the finals last year, the people of Goa are really looking to bringing the trophy home this year.

FC Goa has been family to us since 2014.

I have been attending all Home matches and also travelled to support the team outstation. I am personally very disappointed with the management’s decision to sack the head coach at this stage. We don’t know the exact reasons behind the same but I will continue to support our Gaurs as requested by Sergio when he left the country. This year, the team’s performance has been just amazing with players like Hugo Boumos, Mohammad Nawaz and Jackichand Singh putting up a great show on the field

All fears have been eliminated

As the first match (after Lobera’s exit) started, all fears were eliminated and the team was in a fantastic mood. They played like champions and it was the most sounding victory. The brand of football displayed was awesome and I see no problems with the team.

Fans will slowly and steadily digest the bitter pill

I am sure fans will also slowly and steadily digest the bitter pill of the sacking of Sergio Lobera. No matter who the next coach is, Lobera has left the entire state of Goan football fans united as one family in his support. Thousands of people boycotted the match while others raised questions over the untimely decision; this shows that he was a man of the masses

We will like dedicate our victories to Sergio

We are confident under the interim coach Clifford Miranda, who has worked along with the past guidance of Sergio Lobera will take the team to greater heights. We will like to dedicate our victories to Sergio as he has not only won the hearts of Goans but fans across the ISL Clubs in India

Playoffs are like lottery tickets

In playoffs, it’s anybody’s game; it’s like a lottery ticket you can win or lose. One moment can make a huge impact in it. But I am sure FC Goa will give their best shot in semis and finals. Let see how it goes this time-

Sentiments expressed by the fans may not die down so easily

The sentiments expressed by the fans may not die down so easily with respect to the latest developments. Coach Sergio Lobera was much loved by all football lovers from Goa and all over India for his style of play, which was a joy to watch In every game.

The players aim is to top the league and win the trophy as well, I have always backed my team at home as well as away matches and I am confident FC Goa will top the league as well as win the ISL Trophy, this time for Sergio Lobera

Mandar said players miss Lobera

You see this is a wound that cannot be healed. Victories are meant to be celebrated with the coach and his players. Captain Mandar Rao Dessai himself said in an interview that he and the other players miss Lobera and they are upset with the decision taken by the management. Every player I spoke to says Lobera was like a father figure. The players should win the trophy for Sergio Lobera

Bengaluru in the semis. ATK in the finals

It will be interesting if the match is between FC Goa and Bengaluru FC and I’m sure that FC Goa will triumph and march to the finals. For the finals, I would like to see FC Goa and ATK play against each other, as both the teams are equally competitive.

They Gaurs need us more in upcoming games, and now that we are in the playoffs, it’s time to march forward. We have to focus on ‘GOA’ rather than think about what happened in this last few days.

Getting to play in the ACL is more important

In the playoffs, we would ideally prefer Mumbai FC but we also need Chennai to win against ATK and BFC to increase our chances to finish on top. I think for me, getting to play in the ACL is more important as the club’s stature will grow within the region and also help the club financially
