What’s catching a young Goa’s eye in 2017?

With the New Year having only just commenced, there are many events that are yet to come to pass in Goa. Café asks a few members of a younger generation which of these appeals to them, and why

As 2017
kicks off with a lot of promise (and hopefully leaves us with more celebrities
than its predecessor), there is doubtless amounts of promise that can unfold in
Goa. The year 2016 saw a lot of impacting festivals come to the fore, from Sufi
Sutra to the Serendipity Arts Festival. The usual EDMs were absent due to an
organisational call to move them to Pune, which caused a little disappointment
amongst some members of their faithful following. However, all of the above
being said, tons of other events went down in the state, each of which had
their own appeal and drew a crowd that was their very own.

Café asked a few young Goans what events would best catch
their fancy when 2017 came around. This is what they had to say:

In 2017, I
really hope I can make it to the Serendipity Arts Festival once more. I got to
experience the eight-day festival just briefly, but I thoroughly enjoyed the
eclectic mix of different arts and cultural experiences, all rolled into one.

I’m
honestly uncertain as to what event in particular would entice me in 2017.
However, I know that usual EDMs wouldn’t. Despite being a bike fan, I wouldn’t really
look forward to the bike-related events either. I think that I’d perhaps look
forward to a good jazz/blues festival that could happen in Goa. That would
certainly work.

Since I was
18, my most awaited time of year was December, because of Christmas as well as
Sunburn. I’ve been attending Sunburn for the last seven years, and its absence
this year was a complete disappointment. It was one of the events that was so
strategically placed in the calendar that it gave tourists scope to plan their
holiday season! I’m really looking forward to it in 2017.
