For me, Valentine’s Day has always
been just another ordinary day. This year, as I vote for the first time, I feel
the sense of “coming of age”. I think voting should not be ignored by
youngsters, even those that have somewhere to be on V-day, because it is not a
very cumbersome task, but it is very very important.
– Ana Smriti Paes, Student, GMC
Valentine’s Day
is not Christmas or Chaturthi or Eid. Voting is definitely our priority and
first-time voters are looking forward to having a say in politics. We’re trying
to do what’s best for our state and its people, and hoping to save and preserve
what’s left of our environment.
– Megan Amanda Rodrigues, Student, Anjuna
In my opinion
the priority of the youth should be our future. They should give more
importance to casting their vote and cast it wisely.
– Desiree Sequeira, Student, St Xavier’s College, Mapuca
Valentines is a
day to celebrate love and companionship. As a youth of today, I look forward to
celebrating love every day not just one day of the year – which in my personal
view is overrated and simply a commercial business. voting on the other hand is
my right and my responsibility that comes once in 5-years. When I hold the
government accountable, then I also need to do my by exercising my franchise.
Vote triumphs Valentine’s for me!

Coach, Panjim
It’s a V2 Day.
Valentine’s Day is a very special day for everyone especially for the youth of
today and this time it is a beautiful coincidence that two auspicious things
are on the same day. Valentine’s Day unites two pure souls while voting unites
citizens with an elected government for five years. So without any second
thought voting should be the first priority for everyone. This Valentine’s Day
youngsters and first time voters should smartly choose the right partner for
themselves for the next 5yrs. It hardly takes max 20 minutes of our voting
process but by skipping this for something else may result in a hard time for
next 5 years.
– Swapnil Shetkar, screenwriter, Ponda
First of all it
is going to be absolutely confusing to the youth who have no idea of the value
of the votes because they have never experienced it as they never voted. Their
only sources of information about voting are through music and social media.
Infact their priority should be to go and vote and experience the execution of
their constitutional right for the first time and be part of making a major
decision in who should be given the vote.
– Joe D Costa, Singer, Curchorem
As a first time
voter if I tell myself that people fought for me to have the “right to vote”.
My one vote can definitely help a right candidate win this election. When it
comes to Valentine’s Day celebrations, I will say love is more beautiful when
you least expect it on a gloomy tiring day when your partner pampers you with
good food, soft music and a healthy conversation about the hectic day.
Valentine’s Day has overly romanticised things and somewhere the true essence
of love cannot be felt. But if someone is still keen to celebrate this day,
then vote first and then go for a lunch or dinner date.
– Mayanka Harlankar, Corporate Executive, Bicholim
Being a first
voter and a responsible citizen I feel voting is the most important thing.
Today’s youth might give more preference to Valentine’s Day instead of voting
but they don’t know that voting is their right, because one vote can really
make a huge difference. This time I am voting for the first time and I am so
excited to vote. Youths first priority should be voting and not dating.. My
message to the entire citizen would be to vote without taking any note. Voting
is one of the powers we have and we have to make use of that power to choose
the right person and elect him or her to be our minister for five years… Many
people think that one vote can make a difference. But one vote can really make
a difference. So on February 14, go and vote to bring choose the right candidate.
– Abisha Fernandes, Student, Penha De Franca, Porvorim Bardez
We are
educated. Voting is our Fundamental duty. Valentine’s will come and go but
elections are only once in five years. This election is going to be a defining
moment of our future. Will we have peace five years ahead or are we going to
suffer in the name of development again? Let’s hope for the best. May the
deserving candidates win.
– Jerrico Vaz, Student,
Fr Agnel’s College
Casting my vote
takes utmost importance tomorrow. I would certainly like to be one of the first
in my polling area to cast my vote around 7am & then keep my day reserved
to the two loves of my life: My Wife & my work. Definitely not missing out
to make the most of my V-Day.
– Viresh Vazirani, Social Influencer, Panjim
Even as I
prepare to embrace Valentine’s Day, participating in polling on election day
will symbolise my dedication towards the State’s future. As a voter I believe
that it is my solemn duty to select the right candidate for the future of my
Goa. I found it to be relatively simple when the polling date was scheduled on
Valentine’s Day. The Election Commission will succeed in getting the youth to
cast their vote because they will remember the coincidence in dates. They will
have the urge to fulfill their duty by voting and uphold love for Goa in their
hearts. I will be casting my vote first, even before I begin to think about
Valentine’s Day, because Valentine’s day represents an annual phenomenon, but
the opportunity to vote for my preferred candidate comes only once every five
years. I want to make my vote count this V-Day Day.
