The festive celebrations in Goa on the eve of Krishna Janmashtami will see many groups host the traditional ceremony of breaking of Dahi Handi amidst other cultural programmes tomorrow. Herald Café gives you top three picks of the lot that you simply cannot afford to miss

United Youth Club from Pajifond
Margao will be conducting the Dahi Handi celebrations for the 15th year in
succession. Arguably Margao’s biggest event around Janmashtami, the club hosts the
event near Big G mall. Apart from the main event of breaking of the Handi, the
club has organised other cultural programmes such as a Dandiya performance,
fancy dress competition for kids, etc. The President of the Club, Julen Desai
says, “The height of the Handi will be around 20 feet this year. With regards
to safety, we have arranged for around 50 sacks filled with sawdust to act as a
cushion to ensure that Gopis (Participants attempting to break the Handi) don’t
get hurt.”

area near Sulekha Laundry will witness Gopis competing for a cash prize worth
Rs 25,000 and a trophy. Cultural programmes and orchestra will build up to the
