BBA professor Pooja Lawande Karmali brings in a new cheer to
her lectures that keeps her students’ minds sharp and on the lookout for newer
ideas. Alumni of St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, Pooja completed her graduation in
Commerce and went on to get an MBA from ICFAI Business School, Porvorim. Pooja is also UGC-NET qualified and is
currently pursuing a PhD at Goa University.
Pooja first started teaching at St Xavier’s College for two
years before moving to Sridora Caculo College of Commerce and Management
Studies, Mapusa (Saraswat Vidyalaya’s College of Commerce and Management
Studies), where she has been teaching for the past four years.
“The course I am teaching in college requires a lot of
flexibility in terms of method of teaching. I share a very friendly rapport
with my students and they bring creative ideas to class. It is not a one way
process but an interactive session through which we learn. I have movie based
discussions in class, one act plays and role-plays to teach them the concept of
business,” says Pooja.
To keep herself updated with the latest trends related to
business, Pooja is constantly online, hungry for more information. However, her
most favourite resource is her students. “They bring a new perspective to
class. They have a lot more to share and I cannot be blank if I am moderating
the discussion or facilitating information. There are a lot of business
magazines and journals available online besides which I also make it a point to
attend a training workshop every year,” adds Pooja.
In her free time, one will usually find Pooja with her
camera as she loves photography. If not that she would probably be at the
latest eatery, relishing the treats and blogging about the food. She also
enjoys watching and reviewing films.
