With a string of phone calls, friends are
ringing each other up to find out where everyone is heading to enjoy the
Argentina vs Germany 2014 FIFA World Cup finals. The game is the reason to
unite football fans and friends as well as to put friends on rival ends by
supporting different teams. But it is all in good spirit. The loud cheers when
the player aims for a goal and the booing when the opposition team scores are
all enjoyed when in good company.
Shyam Haridas from Dona Paula has been
invited to over four venues to watch the game. He is still in two minds. “I
have still not decided which place to visit as I feel the euphoria of the game
is more important. I may go either to Bay 15 or Cape Town Café with my friends.
Since we can’t be in Brazil to enjoy the finals, the next best thing is to
enjoy the beautiful game with friends in front of a huge screen. I will be
cheering Germany for the finals.”
Anzil Godinho from Nagoa, Verna wants more
for his villagers. Besides supporting Argentina, he wants to provide a venue
for the villagers to get together. “I have been visiting Gawin’s Restaurant and
Pub, Verna for most of the football matches with my friends as it has a great
ambience for football lovers. However, for the finals, I will be putting up a
giant screen at my home for my friends and for the villagers to come and watch
the game. I will be supporting Argentina like most of my friends as it will be
a revenge game against Germany who beat Portugal (4-0) and Brazil (7-1).”
