Advertising Ethics

We have been in 21st century, a world of modernisation.  Advertising nowadays is almost as important as actual business. Without ads we can’t imagine a business group to sustain in this emerging markets. Competition has become rampant in today’s fast growing corporate world. With every channel broadcasting loads of ads, it regularly has made this so competitive that companies are desperate so as to have the best one.
Olden days we used to see some very good ads focusing on relations. The trend has changed. Every second ad now has just one thing common. ie. using women as a “tool”. It’s so cheap way of how a female is portrayed these days as a marketing strategy. All ads maybe from cosmetics to even automobile are being produced adding women to make it more attractive.
Feminism was pushed in 19th century after Industrial Revolution wherein women’s were projected as a cheaper way of employment. This trend continued until today with females working in all sectors of many industries.  A new trend of so called “artists” emerged which started going beyond lines to subject women as a tool for selling their products.
The trend has been so enormous that even an ad of ice cream or chocolate which used to be dominated by children’s are now being focused as a opportunity to get in relationship. The new trend to show that whatever you do should satisfy a girl is new way the ads are designed.
The value of women in society is left to only as a marketing entity and is well camouflaged with being called women empowerment. Very sad to see ads with contraceptives also designed with women as lead roles. And almost all ads are projected such that only thing you need to do in this world is impress a girl. Looking to such ads has frequently made many youth a prey to sexual excitement leading to rapes and sexual harassment acts.
Women have a special status in society. People should know to respect them. Dirty ways of portraying a female is bad to entire social fabric. On moral and ethical ground, agencies monitoring these ads should be strictly ordered to keep the integrity of a female and do not cross the borders of a Good Moral society. In long run we need to analyse how much impact these things will do on our new young generation which we all are banking for a bright future.
