I am totally disgusted with the way the Goa Government is handling and planning for tourism in the state.
Sorry to say this but it looks to me as the people in charge are just a bunch of lazy, incompetent persons, who need to be replaced by people who can do the job right.
Spending so much of money on consultants with no connection to the best interests of the State, and then planning to just pursue destructive development at will! Are these plans taking into account sustainable tourism, preserving/improving the environment, saving our hills, waterbodies, forests, trees and making sure the gains go to local Goans?
Also, we all know what is affecting tourism in Goa today which are just the basics which include cleanliness, bins, proper toilet facilities for tourists, no garbage all over the place, no destruction of our hills, water bodies, no polluting industries, stop concretisation of Goa from green to brown, enforcement of laws to ensure including tourists coming to Goa keep the place clean, etc, surely you don’t need expensive consultants to tell us this!
For instance, just visit the bus depots in Panjim, Mapusa and one will be horrified with all the stink and the filth! Why are we not penalising all the tourist buses which make such a mess? Is this not an example of some basics that our incompetent authorities can address?
Goa was popular for its pristine white beaches, greenery, general cleanliness, law and order as one can note in the years from the liberation in 1961; and then as the years progress our corrupt government in collision with the Central government gradually started converting it into a place of disgust!
So conclusion is just get the basics right and the right kind of tourism will boom in Goa. At this point, no need to spend crores of rupees on consultants and destructive development which also surely has a good percentage of kickbacks for Goa’s corrupt politicians.
