Its a pity sight that some educated people come in cars and to avoid paying to stay comfortably at hotels, prefer to use our Goan open and empty spaces of not just fields, cultivated or not, to their disposal. And the irony being nobody seems to be able to do anything. My question, where are we Goans and our Goenkarponn?
Goenkarponn is not just in singing songs and getting the Goans sentimental, it is about doing something to help our fellow Goans, its about being united and supporting especially when the cause is for the good.
Why stage out peaceful walks, clean beaches just on one day after that what happens, most of us are back to the busy schedule. But knowing especially what traffic chaos, unwanted cooking that happens in open spaces where are these teams at that time? I may sound wrong but its a fact, to get media exposure everybody is in the forefront but the actual people who are helping always take the back seat but are every ready to help.
Recently at a convent-run school, unwanted KA registered vehicles not just entered but also utilised bathrooms since they found a scared woman caretaker as nobody was around due to the Christmas week and other work. Upon return of inmates they were shocked to find that they were not only sitting but ate and gave the sympathy of 2 small babies to which I asked would you have allowed us to sit inside your compound and subsequently your hall? I reminded them that they looked civilised and educated and not to use open spaces at their disposal. Question arises where is the safety of us Goans? When I told them I would call the police they said Goans were kind, I asked them not to take advantage, they grumbled no doubt but said sorry to the inmates and moved on.
Where is the security for us? Why are these tourists allowed to cook, sit, and even use our open spaces as toilets? You mean to say nothing can be done? If a team of women could drive away 2 cars with educated snobs then if there is police involved you cannot stop buses from cooking? Is this a joke?
Most who go faithfully to Vailankanni cook but in properly appointed rooms, I am sure those reading this article who go regularly and stay for a week, will agree they don’t cook out in the open and will dare not to, as we would not want to inconvenience the other.
Request to State Police, you all do a very good job when it comes to helping in traffic and other works. But during the holidays please help us to stay safe. Men come intoxicated, midnight mass is no longer safe especially the December 31. Avoid cooking at all costs, if the tourists find it difficult to pay and stay, you rather stay safe at your home but do not inconvenience us the people of Goa with your dirt and garbage.
Start the New Year peacefully and cheerfully, not inconveniencing other innocent people.
