Some ignorant selfish people are seen unnecessarily targeting Goans for applying for Portuguese Passports and for migrating in foreign countries. Well, as far as I know, people from other parts of India are also seen migrating in large numbers and settling in foreign countries to make a better living. Now, why are these same ignorant people not attacking these people as well for indulging in similar acts? Why are they targeting only Goans for applying for Portuguese Passports and migrating in foreign countries by even branded them as anti-nationals?
First of all, what is left in Goa for Goans? And why should they hang around here forever when Goa has been currently taken over by all the ‘bhaille’ or the migrants from our neighbouring states and when Goans themselves have become complete strangers in their own home land?
Today, there are no proper job opportunities for Goans in Goa, especially in the private sector as the employers go to pay peanut salaries for their employees by exploiting them. Even the government jobs are given based on religion in Goa and after taking lakhs of rupees from Goans. Now, under such circumstances, how can some people expect Goans to live and die struggling here forever in Goa?
Of course, some say that instead of going abroad, Goans should start doing business like the outsiders and flourish in Goa. Well, to do business; one should also have a crooked manipulative mind like the outsiders which unfortunately Goans never possess. Plus one should devote complete 100% running after the business by even screwing one’s own family life. Now, can Goans live without celebrating their village feasts/festivals, attending weddings, birthday parties etc with their families in Goa? Absolutely not and due to which doing business is just out of question, at least for a large number of Goans.
I personally believe that the reason why most middle-class Goans are currently migrating in foreign countries then that’s because they are getting more value for any kind of job unlike in Goa/India where they would have got only peanuts even after holding the best of white-collar job. Plus these countries offer people working there many descent facilities like free education for children etc unlike in Goa/India where one has to shell out huge sums of money to give even a simple descent education for one’s single child.
Today, the rich are seen becoming richer and the poor becoming poorer in Goa/India, why? That’s because even after so many years of our so-called ‘liberation’ and independence, exploitation of poor people at the hands of upper class has been still allowed by our elected politicians in Goa/India in the name of development. And some people expect Goans to hang on forever in a place like this, why? I therefore say “let Goans go wherever they want to go coz finally like the other Indians, they too have a birth right to go for a better living as free born human beings… Let them not live like isolated pseudo-nationalist idiots but let them go to explore the world as true Goans with their universal open mindset and to live happily forever becoming successful in life.
