Have faith in oneself to succeed

In a few days, we will be closing the old year and entering the new one wishing our friends and relatives a Happy New Year 2015. We will also thank the Almighty God for all the blessings that we have received in the year just gone by. Many of us have faced hardships and continue to do so, it is the inner strength and our own convictions to fight on that have kept us going. They say when the going gets tough, the tough get the going.

The adversities we face in our daily life, also bring opportunities, if we fail to turn these to our advantage, they will not come back to us ever again. If we do not use these opportunities, our adversaries will make a success of them at the cost of our failures. It is very important that we have faith in ourselves to succeed. It is said that we can walk on water if there is unwavering faith; the moment it falters we sink. We tend to make a lot of resolutions for the New Year, but very often it is not likely that we succeed in keeping them.
It was often told to us by our parents and grandparents, when we were kids, that if we did good deeds during the first day of the New Year, we would continue to do so during the rest of the year. Let us say, if we inculcate good habits or give up vices like alcohol abuse or drugs, we will turn a new page in our life and turn into good human beings. My friends let us try this on the coming New Year day and see for ourselves if that happens to us. This is not to say that you should avoid all the fun of the season. Our tourism must not suffer, as it is there are less foreign tourists this year.
We read in the newspapers of the free availability of drugs in our State of Goa.  If this trend continues it will lead to a disaster destroying many lives and families as a result. The politicians and the police can no longer turn a blind eye to what is happening in their constituencies. Strong measures are required to curb the menace of drugs before it is too late. Happy New Year 2015.
