I can’t even say that it has slackened down as a matter of fact it has literally concluded. Initiative and enthusiastic approach of youngsters to clean a corner of the city and later flaunt it on social media also seems to have died. So what is our current status with regards to the cleanliness initiative? Keeping aside the drive where are we with regards to disposing our generated waste on daily basis?
With passage of time the ignite has lost its flame and thus darkening the issue and graveness with regard to hazard caused thanks to inability to position our produced leftover. Measures undertaken to overcome the issue is negligible and steps to prevent excess generation is nil.
We promote tHree R’s, print posters , promote through print media and occasionally hold some cleanliness drive for an hour and the next day print a page long snap on the newspaper. This is where our initiative ends. On some rare events we involve politicians who takes undeserving credit for doing nothing. But have we ever taken concrete measures to conclude the trouble caused by garbage and end it forever? No.
Our cities are overflowing with waste with every street dog, cow feasting on plastic and other non-edible waste, public dustbins are good as unusable and the smell from garbage is overwhelming. Why can’t the authorities and officials take concrete measures to resolve the issues once and forever?
We have facility of waste collection from our house. Some insist on separating the dry and wet waste but have you observed that the guy who collects usually dumps both in the same bin? So what is the whole point? We have dustbins for public use but most of them are not in usable form thus the litter is littered besides and not insides the bin. We do not have proper ways to dispose our cans and cardboard waste. So where do we dump all of this?
Measures need to be undertaken for collection and treating the waste . People need to be educated on separating their dry waste and further collection of the same should be done separately. We need to introduce cardboard dumpster and other required measures to simplify waste separation so that there lays no dilemma as to actually which waste goes where. We need to introduce dustbins that have strong leads and the public users should actually use them rather than dumping the waste besides. Ethics of not dumping waste on the roads, public places needs to self-taught.
The fact that ours is a tourist destination and the waste generated is immense the officials got to take initiative to treat the generated waste in appropriate manner rather than dumping it on unused land causing troubles in long run.
