Do the people not consider that these few issues were mishandled and was actually dereliction of duty of the elected representatives of the people, whose duty it was to protect the interests of the people of Goa?
There are 8-10 months for every Goan to pore over these issues and to cast your judgment on those on whom you chose to manage the affairs of Goa. Was it not an error of judgment that you entrusted those who you elected to act on your behalf? Has the face of Goa not taken a severe beating due the mismanagement of our affairs? Would you make such a mistake again, or would you decide that the time for a change is long overdue?
Those directly affected at least should vent your ire on those who betrayed your trust reposed in them. These lines were written on World Environment Day and most of these affect the pristine glory of Goa’s landscape. Reversing or restoring degraded environment is a mammoth task and it would be prudent to prevent rather than cure later, which leaves deep imprints and indelible scars. Rather than build concrete jungles it would be better to return to your rustic abodes:
– The devouring of the loot in the mining scam and the inability of the government to bring the guilty to punishment.
– The unbridled sprouting of mega projects in the state disproportionate to the requirements of the state.
– The deliberate neglect in bringing to justice those involved in the mysterious death of Bismarque shows a clear-cut abetment by the big-time players who want to rampantly endanger the protection of the environment and its flora and fauna.
– The MoI imbroglio that is bent on not meting justice to the Goan parents in having the freedom to choose the language that their wards be allowed to take.
– The inability to counter but on the contrary the acquiescence of the government to allow the setting up of the golf-course by Leading Hotels in Tiracol against the wishes of the people of the area.
– The constant delay in shifting of the off-shore casinos out of the Mandovi River.
– The imposition of the construction of the Mopa airport in a locale known for its exotic flora and fauna, destroying a large area of its inherent natural beauty and allure.
– The DefExpo fiasco that was thrust upon the people of Quitol to their detriment.
– The classification of the coconut tree as a palm.
– The legitimisation of the draconian Investment Promotion Board that over-ruled matters relating to the environmental degradation.
– The case of the government nod to setting up of the Vani Agro Farms beer plant which will guzzle 6 litres of water from the Uguem river for every litre of beer produced when no place in Goa gets 24×7 water supply in the state.
