Police Chief T.N. Mohan’s view that you cannot wish away the massage parlours in a tourist state like Goa is strange. He further says that, notwithstanding the numerous such joints running prostitution rackets and luring girls with false promise of jobs, the police checking of the same would be counterproductive to the state’s economy.
First off, Kerala, which also relies on tourism, has banned alcohol entirely as it adversely affected the inhabitants. Massage parlours are mushrooming along the coastline in the heart of villages. Should we wait, like Kerala, till the negative effects are seen before banning the same?
