I refer to the news item Traffic Chaos at the new Dabolim airport (December 27). The main reason for this is non-availability of sufficient space in front of the terminal. All vehicles catering to incoming and outgoing passengers have to utilise the small strip of space available there. I feel that this problem can be solved if the airports authority in co-ordination with the NHAI and the state government can construct a concrete platform in front of the existing terminal over the four lane road creating an under pass for the existing road. This might create sufficient space for the incoming and outgoing vehicles, additional passenger facilities and could even provide some parking space for taxis.
Further the outgoing traffic to Panjim and Margao can easily be given way through this platform to Chicalim and maybe with a flyover to the Verna road as against the present one km drive towards Mangor hill and back.
