Schools in Goa reopened on June 8 for the new academic year. On July 8, one month will be over but there is no sign of the All Goa Secondary School Teachers Association (AGSSTA). Where is AGSSTA gone? Have all the demands of the teachers been met? As far as I know the problems of extended school timings still persist. I have seen the hardships faced by parents and students because of it. Secondly has the issue of appointments of teachers on contract and lecture basis been resolved? I have just mentioned two. The teachers had placed many demands before the government, therefore I am compelled to ask whether AGSSTA is active, dormant or dead. The “deafening” silence of AGSSTA is politically motivated. One office bearer has been appointed chairman of a government-run corporation another is hibernating. Here is one more example of the BJP government trying to stifle the voice of the people. Why don’t other teachers come forward to take over the responsibility?
