Do You Feel something has gone wrong in the world! No room in the inn, even today!
I dedicate this article to the thousands of refugees and migrants that are on a desperate journey every day with nowhere to go. “No room in the inn“ Christ comes to us this Christmas in them. His place is with those for, who there is no room, with those who are rejected by power because, they are regarded as weak, with those who are discredited who are tortured, bombed and exterminated, Christ is present in this world, He is mysteriously present this Christmas in those for whom there seems to be nothing but the world at its worst.
Today in this awful crisis of refugees knocking on the doors of other European countries, can we be awakened and see in them Mary and Joseph looking for a place to give birth to Jesus? As they, the refuges go on a desperate journey looking for a place where they can live and secure a future for their families and give birth to their children offering them a safe place. Today people are fleeing from threats to their lives hoping they will reach a safe shore, where, humanity will be more humane to give them some space for their living. What a desperate journey!
The world needs respect for otherness; the world needs a voice for otherness in order to hear the cries of these refugees and migrants…..and today who is this other voice other than that of Pope Francis and countries and who have opened its borders and homes to these refugees? Pope Francis, has made, concern for the poor the homeless and nameless, a pillar of his papacy. Pope Francis true to his name, is calling on every European country to host one refugee family as a good will gesture. What a beautiful experience to know and see someone as our Pope Francis, so generous, compassionate who keeps reminding us of the beautiful sense, of what it is to have an inclusive attitude. Open your hearts and you will enter the space of God’s MERCY.
In June, he said that the mistreatment of asylum seekers makes one cry as they are merely victims of injustice of this throw away economy and war. Pope Francis the “INN KEEPER“ of this world keeps asking on behalf of these refugee on a desperate journey, a place in our inn, in our hearts and our world that can accommodate them, include them, they are one of our world community. Because of Christmas the whole human race is one family. Only what we do for these “little ones” of this world is our treasure in heaven.
Here at home, we have to see to it that there is always room in our inn, that the door is always open. Do not hold back; welcome the other at your door if only by means of a hand shake or a smile if you have no time to sit down. One day will Christ say to you; thank you for having room in the inn of your life “I was a stranger and you welcomed me…’ Mt 25:3.
Remember our lives are like lanterns lighting the way to hope. When others come to us, looking for a safe place to shelter their hearts, will we shout “No ROOM“?, or will we keep our doors open to all who need the Saviors love?
This Christmas for a few moments each morning let us place ourselves before the Lord, and in obscurity of faith, welcomes into our life for His sake all those whom we are to meet.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS!
