Your editorial ‘Where’s The Giving’ made interesting reading. Almost all the wealthy cannot comprehend that money is a good slave but a bad master. In the west, the Judeo/Christian principle requires its adherents give away at least 10% of their wealth to the needy, while here we give a paltry 1 or 2%. I don’t want to judge anyone, but we need to provide good role models for people to emulate and are duty bound to speak the truth. Of course, industrious people need to get a better reward than lazy people. But we must ensure that equal opportunities to earn a decent living must be presented to all, so that at least the basic needs of all are met.

Peter Drucker correctly stated that the ratio of the highest paid employee to the lowest paid employee in any organization, must not exceed 25:1. Unfortunately today it exceeds 300:1 in some cases, where people at the top earn a multi-million dollar salary .These people sack others in the name of cost cutting, thus depriving people of their livelihood. Why don’t they severely cut their own salary first? There are different kinds of theft. Robbing a person of his/her right to earn a living is one of the worst kinds of theft in God’s sight. People may get by for a while by doing evil, but they can never get away with it. May I remind the wealthy that much is expected from those to whom much is given.

It’s an irrefutable fact that when we die we can’t even take our own body with us. Yet instead of storing our treasures in blessings, by doing as much good as possible here on earth, most of us spend our time hoarding perishable riches, way beyond our needs. In order to get to heaven, we must turn right and keep straight to the end. Anytime you go off track, repent and get back on track. One hopes people realize that it’s better to take corrective action now, whilst they are still alive. The near death experiences of many have revealed that at the end of life, our whole life, the good, bad & the ugly is played out in front of us in a flash. At that moment we understand what is really worthwhile. Why wait till that time? We blame destiny. The fact is that our actions here decide whether we will create a destiny of light or darkness for ourselves.
