Former chief minister, Digambar Kamat, Arthur D’Silva and many others who are accused in the Louis Berger bribery case have already got bail but it is really surprising to see only one accused namely Churchill Alemao still languishing in jail. Now, isn’t that surprising? Of course, I don’t have any soft corner for leaders like Churchill Alemao but why such open double standards? I think that this whole thing clearly shows that the ruling Laxmikant Parsekar-led BJP government is not at all interested in nailing or punishing all those involved in this sensational case but in playing its own dirty vindictive politics by harassing only a few leaders selectively till the next Assembly elections distracting/entertaining Goans for its own political gains unleashing such one-sided ‘nataks’ in Goa.
The one thing I know about the BJP leaders is that they have the habit of blackmailing their opponents using such cases and bringing them on their side. Why, didn’t the BJP leaders successfully go to bring tainted controversial leaders like Mauvin Godinho, Babush Monserate etc from the opposition on their side by blackmailing and using such similar cases in Goa? Maybe the BJP leaders are now trying to use the same tactics against Churchill Alemao too. Yes, one’s Churchill Alemao gives them an undertaking saying that he will go to float a new political party to split the secular votes to help the BJP in the next Assembly elections, they will surely set him free, sooner or later.
It should be noted that the BJP leaders have filed a number of cases in the mining scam just during the last Assembly elections to bluff Goans but after coming to power what happen? The BJP leaders closed the same giving flimsy reasons. I therefore feel that the same will happen in this case too. Yes, the BJP leaders will continue using this case till the next Assembly elections to bluff Goans just to take some political mileage to hide their own misdeeds but will finally go to close the same once the elections are over under some pretext or the other coz finally whether it is the Congress or the BJP, both parties are birds of the same feather which enjoy flying together with each other misguiding and bluffing Goans.
