No more “Once More”

Many years ago, a girl was taking care of the bar counter at “Tamarind” in Delhi. A guest approached her and asked for a drink. Politely, she declined his request citing that bar timings were over. The guest pulled out a pistol and blew her brains off on the spot. Her name was Jessica Lal.
Two days ago, a DJ at a restaurant in Colva, was looking after music, with people forwarding him Karaoke requests and singing. A group of guests continuously forwarded him five to six requests which he obliged. At last he politely told them that the music time limit is over and stopped the music.  That was the end of it. The guests brutally thrashed him in the parking lot of the hotel in full public glare.
Perhaps, no other professionals are more vulnerable to insult, violence and brutality as much as those involved in entertainment and music industry in Goa. Guests treat them no better than slaves and hotel and restaurant management consider them no better than hired furniture. While administration wants hotels to follow sound dead line stringently, guests want nothing less than once more and once more.
If the deadline is crossed, their sound equipment is prone to be confiscated and if they try to wind up, guests get unruly and abusive. This happens everyday at every live restaurant, wedding venue, party, functions and other programmes.
We all have been guests to one or the other aforementioned occasions. We all have sung, danced and enjoyed. Have we ever thought about the magnitude of pain inside the hearts of those who spend all their energy and talent to make us happy?
If yes, then well and fine and if no, then it’s high time. Please realize that they too are humans like you and me. They too have children and families waiting back home. Behave with respect towards them. Be polite while interacting. Realize that time limits and deadlines to be adhered.
Please, for God’s sake. Never shout “once more” after “once more” is not possible….. It’s painful.
