With due respect to those politicians, and especially the celebrated environmentalists who have relentlessly striven in their heart or hearts for the saving of Goa’s eco-systems, we now have to tread cautiously but surely and certainly to tend and reverse the damages done to our environment so that we can save Goa from becoming another Kerala and prevent the sufferings that God’s own state endured due to unprecedented flooding that now requires a healing touch that will steer the people of Kerala from outbreak of disease as well as restoration of their homes and land.
Without naming anyone, I would like to proffer my arguments that politicians of the ruling coalition have failed to heed to the various environmentalists’ sustained warnings of worse things to come, if we do not respect nature and treat our environment with loving care so as to escape the wrath of nature’s fury. Let each Goan play his and her role in collectively contributing to Goa returning back to its bidding as the Rome of the East.
Those that are tired and need rest should gracefully step down from their political offices so that fresh new blood be infused into the political mainstream, who will be better equipped to tend to self-destruction that will have been caused to our fragile environment. Those who had at heart the true spirit of saving our environment may rest assured that the bounty of nature’s blessings will be upon them. Nature heals its wounds to a certain extent, but if the threshold is crossed then there is no redemption.
In the light of saving Goa from the wrath of nature it is absolutely essential that that environmentalists call for action that will save Goa be heeded without any delay so that our natural environs are nursed back to the best of possible health. Let us admit our excesses and thus curtail our impetuosity that has led to our environment having faced neglect and exploitation. It is in the fitness of things that we commend the largesse and pain-staking efforts that our environmentalists have diligently brought to our notice their visions of a better environment for Goa. With care we have to see to and act so that a stitch in time saves nine.
