There is no perfect recipe or formula for happiness. It cannot be obtained as a degree. It is normal to be happy and not abnormal to be unhappy. Everyone wants happiness, but it is difficult not impossible. Happiness is a state of mind and the source of all happiness. It is as elusive as achieving it. Happiness is emotional and an affective state can be individual or shared with others. Hence our own perception of happiness is what matters the most, which means one has own definition of happiness.
Every single individual spends a life time in search of happiness. Happiness is a choice that one makes consciously and must work to achieve the set cherished goals. Happiness makes other goals like success, prosperity, relationships and does not influence over reaction and feelings. The burning desire to be happy is innate, which means, that if it cannot be satisfied here on this earth then it will have to be satisfied hereafter.
The feelings of inner peace and satisfaction are desirable with detachment and not indifference. Happiness and unhappiness is relative and it is a cycle. There is no permanent state of either. Happiness is linked to success in profession, family, finance, social relations. Every single action we undertake is in pursuit of happiness.
The daily worker, the poor and wretched, businessman are under constant stress and the mind is cluttered with junks of hope, despair, anxiety, anger, jealousies, envy, pride, power, status as a result, our sleep patterns are disturbed there is less time to enjoy and no peace of mind.
Happiness is not achieved by running from me, I, myself. Eliminate ourselves from the vices, attachments, desires, as that which is truly beyond is happiness. Escapism from stress through alcohol, drugs and inferno of vices is temporary solution and is illusive.
Material possessions, wealth have their limitations and beyond a certain point are meaningless and counter-productive. Money cannot always buy peace and satisfaction in life, as happiness is not on sale to be purchased everyone with or without money have problems we need to revitalise our mind, forget our burdens and forgive. Momentary, fleeting pleasures should not be confused with happiness and contentment. Pleasure is a feel good part of a good life. Happiness encompasses well being, joy, prosperity and suffering too. Good family relations and friends affect the health of the family as well as of those around us.
Positive emotions, optimism, confidence reduce stress leading to a comfortable life of happiness. Sharing with others materially and emotionally, planning goals, company of happy people, ability to adjust to any situation confidently, humour , smiles, compassion, exercises, determination can pave the way to happiness We need to count our blessings, and strengths. Over confidence in our own abilities can ruin our peace of mind.
When we look outside ourselves to find happiness it is disaster waiting to happen. Our happiness is related to physical and social environment and interaction with both, we cannot experience genuine happiness in a vacuum.
