The socio-political and religious upheavals around the world is a cause for great concern. Every country, state, society and community is facing a dangerous turn of events. Humanity is precariously observing the gruesome atrocities inflicted on society by misguided rational beings. Who will arrest these miscreants? Will it solve the problem, if we kill some, and put others in prison? Every time society engages in such temporal solutions, (which do protect temporal society for a moment) the long-term ramifications are beyond remedy. Could it be that society should examine its nature and the ways it tries to redress these anomalies? Or, should we keep running on empty – running from truth. Only truth can set humans free, because it is the object of our desire to know. The unrest in society is a clear indication that there’s a lack of truth or a disdain for truth in our public life.
World bodies, like the United Nations, uphold human rights, which is noble. From where do they draw rights and equality for all humans? In fact, when we abstract the notion of human nature from individual people, it becomes clear that all men share the same nature – humankind. Truth is in an immaterial metaphysical realm. This truth means that every nation’s leaders should be convinced to conceive that all citizens are equal, and deserving of equal rights and protection. When nation or organizations or leaders deny a certain segment of society its rights and dignity, rest of humanity cries out, because the rest’s own rights also have been violated, because we all share the same humanity. This humanity reaches out whenever and wherever humanity suffers from natural or manmade disasters. It is noble to behold humanity running toward truth, rather than running away from truth.
God is truth, the first and ultimate truth. If God did not exist, than there would be no truth, and rational beings would be destined to continue to live in bondage, with no hope for freedom. God exists, and so does truth. God endowed man with the ability to reason and decipher truth as well as to abide by it, so as to live in freedom. Hence, government is not meant to be the custodian of eternal truth, but rather a protector of the God given freedom and rights of all, so that all humans can search for truth – the ultimate truth – in freedom. Any organization that seeks temporal power to advance its ideologies, especially one that suggests it offers eternal truth, is far from truth. And when governments take on the role of spiritual leadership, which is not their domain, clearly disaster is in making. The leaders of nations are entrusted with temporal power to facilitate the existential needs of the society. The common good flows from natural law. The authority for temporal society is also from natural law, which is the wisdom of God.
“Hindutva” is social/economical/religious and political in nature. Is this combination positive for society, and for nation-building? What is Hindutva? It means many things, including caste system (economic strata) with has religious implications. Caste-system implies that not all men share the same nature, but most fall into one of four categories, with the remnant being outcaste. Can Hindutva then speak about human rights? Consequently a question arises: Is Hindutva a divine system or a man-made entity? If it is divine, then the Gods must be confused about truth, but if man fabricated it, it is devoid of truth. Subsequently, is it legitimate to promote Hindutva philosophy to the Indian nation? If we view things in proper perspective, BJP, a political party doing just that, has wrong motivation, and evil intent to govern the people of India.
