The Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (the group headed by RSS chief, Subhash Velingkar and a few pro-Maharashtrawadi slaves) at the behest of the ruling Laxmikant Parsekar led BJP government is again seen coming out with its so-called ‘rallies’ in some parts of Goa hiring a few misguided illiterate parents from the interior villages and as usual is seen going on targeting only the Church run English medium schools demanding to stop grants for these schools from the next Academic year. The said group is also seen demanding to take strict immediate action against all the English supporting parents for blocking most major roads in Goa who had done this to put pressure on the Laxmikant Parsekar led BJP government to pass an amendment bill on primary education during the last Assembly session of the Goa Assembly.
Well, as far as I know, the same BBSM group with the help of BJP/MGP leaders/supporters had also forcibly organized a Goa-bandh a couple of years back on the very first opening day of schools for a whole day putting everyone into inconvenience. Now, was that bandh which was forcibly imposed by the goons of the above mentioned group threatening the general public justified at that time?
The leaders of this group say that the primary education should be done only in the mother tongue of a child. Well, doing primary education in mother tongue is fine, but can these selfish outdated leaders guarantee our children a better future or give descent permanent government jobs in Goa/India after studying in Konkani and Marathi medium primary schools in today’s highly competitive world?
I would also like to ask them another question over the same topic of mother tongue and that is, which actually is Goa’s mother tongue and the language which is really spoken here in homes/public places by all communities irrespective of caste, creed and religion? Isn’t it Goa’s sole official language, Konkani? Then why are leaders of this group misguiding everyone by making a noise only against the 127-odd Church-run English medium schools and not against the 700 government funded primary schools for deliberately promoting neighboring Marathi ignoring Goa’s sole official language/mother tongue, Konkani? Now, why these double standards?
I think this itself exposes the real agenda of the said BBSM group and clearly shows that it’s leaders are only fighting to finish all Church-run English medium schools by forcibly imposing Devnagiri-Konkani only on these schools to deprive poor children studying in these schools of good quality English primary education to help all private run English medium schools run by all the big rich businessmen, industrialists which incidentally have all turned the education system into a big money making extortion racket collecting huge fees/donations from parents in Goa.
I, therefore, would advise the leaders of groups like BBSM to stop giving a communal colour to the MOI issue to divide Goans behaving like a bunch of road-side uneducated selfish illiterates but to come to senses and learn to respect the fundamental basic right of all liberal-minded modern parents who believe in giving primary education of their choice for their children as free-born human beings…
