Taming our primitive instincts

As the Wildlife Week has already kick-started from October 2, our tiny state which is teeming in a verdant of wilderness and a treasure trove of flora, fauna, mammals, reptiles, avians, terrains, waterfalls, mangroves when nature synchronizes with the living species. Over the years, Goa has enticed scores of people from every nook and cranny of this planet. Being a popular tourist destination many Goans thrive on brisk business. But Goa in all its glory encompasses many natural attractions that aid in supplementing our livelihood. Right from waterfalls during monsoons to adventure sports during the peak season and visits to heritage sites, zoos, parks, sanctuaries situated at Bondla, Mhadei, Bhagwan Mahavir, Cotigao and Netravali which can enhance the educational scope.
Within the purview of generating awareness and preserving our living resources, The Indian Board of Wildlife has corroborated with agencies, educationists, environmentalists, students and activists and have called time on our actions that are seething with repercussions and sending ripples through the biosphere. We need to spare a thought by forging and rekindling our relations with the wilderness and  wild beasts. Our children who are the future keepers of this planet have a lot to grasp from this while we in turn generate a curiosity and passion in them by getting our acts together and being accountable for our disparaging actions that has incurred wrath on mother nature. 
We have failed to maintain a harmonious and sustainable balance in the ecosystem by being deceitful and plundering our natural resources indiscriminately sans realising that other living creatures too need a fair share for their habitation. We speak of banning animal slaughter, poaching, hunting and other forms of atrocities against these creatures in the hope of taming human desires.
We have laws and acts that safeguard the rights and privileges of wild species but how far our actions can manifest is evident in the extinction of species. Our wild counterparts have a lot to teach us. They are in fact a true test of our character and determine our capacity for empathy and conduct in our scheme of existence. In their humble domains they reconcile with the fact that they must adapt to their surroundings and thrive on the seasonal availability of fodder. They are protective of their kind and extend a loving bond with mankind. . 
Homo Sapiens have evolved and secured for themselves a rightful place on this planet. While we deem our species worthy of being loyal companions by taming them and amusing ourselves at their expensive, it is noteworthy comprehending that their existence is crucial in stabilising the eco-systems that feed and flourish myriad life forms. Man undeniably supersedes all other living creatures by exercising his rationality. Let us illustrate to our children that noble virtues and a sense of gratitude can be nurtured by investing invaluable time with untamed species and thus in doing so humanity will take a cue and show some mercy and compassion to one of his kind.
