Being a resident of a land where practice of bribery and sleaze is discussed and debated upon with frail conclusions, I ponder if it is ever going to retire like our politicians? Or it might retire when they do so. The problem is so grave and common these days that honesty has lost its presence and is positioned in society as if a pauper who accidently makes it to an event hosted by a rich man.
The degree of functioning with dishonesty is so absorbed with in people that we today don’t know any other way to operate. Small contributions towards corruption holds no relevance as it so common and frequent that we no longer feel the guilt of doing something wrong. If you step out of the bracket and oppose the same you are considered the cheap guy. Such is our surrounding. We got to grease palms, share a slice, gift to gain and all of this is done in self-interest and gain of the other in ours.
Amount that forms part of corrupt wealth is amplifying. In fact with every new uncover of news the figure surpasses the previous one and holds a place on the news channels and other form of media, man universally get a new topic to discuss on and gradually the matter dies death as does the justice. Respected and affluent people hold major share in these practices yet hold themselves innocent among the masses.
People in the past who didn’t agree with existence of corrupt practices and who tried to conclude them, where themselves concluded shutting the matters once and forever and it is done even till date. Neither are they encouraged nor appreciated, neither are they offered help and assistance. Why would anyone do so anyways? They appear to be a major threat as opposed to that of corruption, to the populace who worship dishonesty. The degree of menace they undertake to uncover the hidden and abstain the evil fall fragile as they are positioned on weaker side as against that of corrupt. Even if somebody manages to reveal the unfair practices they never reach final conclusion. Swiping lives, threating, hijacking and causing destruction isn’t rare and is aided politically on major occasion. Every influential individual is backed by political parties and this is not a hidden affair.
Why is it encouraged so much then? Folks in our country devote the influential and the loyalty develops, thanks to wealth which forms source of help to many households and to an extent faithfulness develops on the basis of community, caste and religion which blindfolds every being on our nation. Our talks to bring in the black money, never concludes. No one really speaks of black money existing in our nation. No one really questions the wealth spent prior to elections for the campaigns and funding of political parties on day today basis. In fact what about the corruption that happens when jobs emerge in government departments and the manner they are allotted? Do they happen on merit basis?
It exists, it prevails and we all practice the same. We all are a part of it and it won’t perish until we don’t fuel the practices.
