Air India has earned a place among the world’s most punctual airlines, becoming the only Indian carrier to feature in the global top five in Cirium’s June 2026 On-Time Performance Report. The Tata Group-owned airline secured the fourth position, highlighting its improving operational performance despite increasing congestion across domestic and international airports.

According to the aviation analytics firm’s report, Air India recorded an on-time arrival rate of 86.85 per cent across 15,135 tracked flights during June. The airline also achieved an on-time departure rate of 86.23 per cent while maintaining a completion factor of 99.7 per cent, indicating that nearly all scheduled flights operated successfully.

Saudi Arabian carrier Saudia topped the global rankings with an on-time arrival performance of 92.38 per cent, followed by South Korea’s Korean Air at 88.56 per cent. Mexico’s Aeromexico claimed third place with 86.94 per cent, narrowly edging past Air India. Singapore Airlines rounded off the top five with an arrival punctuality of 86.74 per cent.

The airline attributed the achievement to sustained investments in strengthening operational efficiency and network planning. In a statement, Air India said the ranking reflects its continued focus on improving operational resilience, enhancing network management and ensuring better execution across both domestic and international operations.

The recognition marks another milestone in Air India’s ongoing transformation programme under the Tata Group, which has invested heavily in fleet expansion, customer service upgrades and operational improvements. Improved schedule reliability is considered a key indicator of airline performance and customer satisfaction, particularly in a period of rising passenger traffic and airport congestion.

Air India’s presence in the global top five underscores the progress made in streamlining operations while competing with some of the world’s leading international carriers. The latest ranking also reinforces the airline’s efforts to position itself as a reliable global aviation player as it continues its long-term modernisation plans.
