The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested Giribala Singh, the mother-in-law of Twisha Sharma, who was allegedly found hanging at her marital residence earlier this month.
CBI officials arrived at Giribala Singh’s residence in Bhopal at around 10:30 am and questioned her for several hours before formally placing her under arrest at approximately 5:10 pm.

As part of the ongoing probe, the investigating agency also conducted an extensive forensic examination of the residence. Officials used a high-intensity 3D camera to document the entire premises and scanned nearby areas to determine whether the alleged incident spot was visible from surrounding terraces and balconies.
Giribala Singh has been booked under multiple serious provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The charges include Section 80(2) pertaining to dowry death, Section 85 for cruelty towards a woman by her husband or relatives, and Section 3(5) for acts committed by several persons in furtherance of common intention.
She has also been charged under Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.
The case has attracted significant attention, with the CBI intensifying its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death.
