After weeks of parents, students, and local residents rallying on the streets against Delhi’s hazardous air quality, the city government on Wednesday finally initiated dialogue with the protest leaders. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa met citizen groups, environmental activists and volunteers at the Delhi Secretariat, in what many participants described as a long-delayed but positive step.
Sirsa said the administration sought to hear directly from those who have been mapping pollution hotspots and highlighting gaps in enforcement.
“We invited residents who consistently work to keep the city cleaner and improve air quality. We listened to their recommendations and discussed practical measures that can be implemented,” he said following the meeting.
