MARGAO: District and Sessions Judge Edgar Fernandes acquitted Rahul Sharma, who was charged of murder, after a trial that went on for the last 16 years. Rahul was arrested in December 2004.
Rahul was accused of murdering his work colleague Pramod Soni at Hotel Sagar Kinara in Colva and was arrested. However, during the pendency of the trial, Rahul absconded and remained in hiding for 14 years till he was finally arrested in 2018.
The prosecution examined 26 witnesses.
