MARGAO: Colva Police arrested a 40-year-old Ignatius Minj, a native of Simdega district in Jharkand, for the alleged murder of his co worker Thadeus Bara. The crime was solved within nine hours after a police complaint. The accused has confessed to committing the murder, disclosed Colva Police Station Inspector Filomeno Costa.
At 10 am today a contractor Joaquim Gonsalves informed the police that one of his workers was murdered at the construction site where the labourers were living and accordingly a police team rushed to the site. Police noticed injuries on Bara’s face and head. They also retrieved a 70-cm long wooden rafter with blood stains on it and also found some cash lying close to the body.
Police rounded up about seven of the co-workers and following a thorough investigation and interrogation they arrested Ignatius Minj at 6.30 pm under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for the alleged murder.
Apparently Thadeus and Ignatius reportedly had heated arguments earlier in the day over the payment for the weekly bazaar where they would purchase stock for the whole week collectively and cook their meals together.
Inspector Filomeno Costa opined that the murder was committed last night after Thadeus had gone to sleep at the construction site at Gunewado in Varca along the road leading to Fatrade.
Incidentally this is the third murder registered by Colva Police in the current year. Two murders registered last year after Filomeno took over as police inspector have been detected and the accused arrested.
