PONDA: Ten days ago, a sample of milk suspected to be adulterated with tobacco substance was sent to the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) lab for testing. However, the Ponda police, who sent the sample, are still awaiting the report of FDA.
Few days after the sample was sent to FDA for testing, the parents of the child that was allegedly fed with the tobacco substance adulterated milk addressed a press conference in Ponda criticising the FDA for delaying its report.
Frustrated at the delay by FDA in sending the report, the parents met the Ponda Police Inspector, on Saturday, to press for action against the Day Care centre where their child was allegedly fed with adulterated milk. However, the PI informed them that he was still awaiting the report from the FDA and that he had even sent a reminder to FDA to furnish the report at the earliest.
Meanwhile, local advocate Varad Mardolkar said that he and the parents would meet the FDA Director on Monday and question her about the delay in sending the report of the milk sample. “We just want to know whether the milk was mixed with tobacco or not. So, why is the delay?” he asked.
