10 killed in Ratnagiri mishap

Ten persons, including nine family members, were killed while six others were seriously injured when a Tavera SUV and a Goa-bound bus collided with each other along the Mumbai-Goa highway at Ratnagiri-Maharashtra in the wee hours of Sunday.
According to reports, the mishap took place near Udhale village at about 4 am when the Tavera, driven by Suraj Jadhav (22), collided with the oncoming inter-state Volvo bus near Khed.
Jadhav reportedly lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn and hit the bus coming from the opposite direction.
Nine members of the Khetle family from Ratnagiri as well as Jadhav were killed in the mishap.
The bus driver M Fernandes (31) and five other passengers were injured in the mishap and were rushed to a nearby government hospital.
