12 held for theft cases in Margao

The Margao police have arrested a gang of miscreants believed to be involved in the spate of thefts in the Commercial capital in recent times.
Sources in the know said the police have rounded up around 12 persons, some of whom hail from Panjim, and who were earlier involved in theft cases.
Margao PI Santosh Desai exuded confidence of achieving a breakthrough in the recent theft cases with the arrest of the gang. “The police are still in the process of interrogating the suspects. We expect a breakthrough in a day or two”, he said.
The Commercial Capital had witnessed spate of thefts in the last three days with the miscreants targeting shops and establishments.
That the recent thefts was the handiwork of a gang of five persons became evident when the group robbed a worker of cash of Rs 3000, besides his cell phone in the heart of the city on Monday night.
The police are investigating.
