MARGAO: The financial year 2016-2017 will end for as many as 13 panchayats from Salcete without having approved the budget for the next financial year even as both the Block Development Officers of Salcete have convened record 13 gram sabha meetings on March 26.
However, this year, due to the code of conduct in force, only four Salcete panchyayats have had their gram sabha meetings till date. They are Davorlim-Dicarpale, Varca, St Jose de Areal and Dramapur-Sirlim.
On March 26, 13 panchayats will have their gram sabhas and they are Velim, Orlim, Telaulim, Cavelossim, Curtorim., Guirdolim, Rachol, Paroda, Seraulim, Loutolim, Chandor-Cavorim, Sarzora and Camurlim.
While some panchayats have convened a special gram sabha to only discuss the budget others will also take up issues raised by the villagers for discussion.
