PANJIM: Fourteen companies will bid for approximately 12.41 lakh metric tons ore lying at jetties, leases and Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) at the second e-auction of iron ore which will be held on March 5.
The Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) has put around 12, 41, 393 metric tons of ore for e-auction, which would be conducted through metal scrap trading corporation (MSTC).
The department had initially announced e-auction of 15.53 lakh metric tons of ore in the second phase, but reduced it to 12.41 lakh metric tons.
Mining companies such as Sesa Mining Corporation, Fomento resources and Timblo industries have applied for the e-auction.
The ore that is to be auctioned belongs to 14 mining companies and is stocked at 25 mining leases (Rivona, Kothambi, Pale, Bicholim, Mina), seven jetties, MPT, processing plants at Bicholim and mining plots at Kothambi.
DMG had on February 17 conducted the first e-auction, wherein total 5.35 lakh metric tons of ore was auctioned at a bid price of Rs 94 crore.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court appointed six members capping committee is in Goa to conduct micro level environment impact assessment study for suggesting the annual ore production for the State keeping in mind the limited resources. The committee has been directed to submit its report by March 24.
