CORTALIM: Exasperated over the delay in appointing a full-time panchayat secretary, Sancoale Panchayat on Thursday resolved to serve a 15-day deadline on the government to appoint a full-time secretary, failing which it would approach the court.
Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar said the panchayat had on several occasions sent reminders to the government over the issue, but no action has been taken.
“How are we supposed to work with a part-time secretary? Our panchayat has a population of over 50,000. There are many complaints, RTI queries and it is not possible to deal with the public works with a part-time secretary,” Borkar averred.
