PANJIM: Around 15 suspects have been interrogated and 17 have moved court seeking anticipatory bail in the week-old mining dependents protest case that paralysed Panjim on March 19.
Police sources said they are further examining the video footage of the violent protest to identify more suspects. “We have so far interrogated 15 of them, who were identified through the video footage available with us. More are being identified. Our investigating team is examining the video to identify more people involved in the offence,” said a police official.
In another development, the number of persons who have applied for anticipatory bail before the local court fearing arrest rose from 10 to 17. Sources said some applications were heard on Monday and adjourned for a further hearing after the prosecution sought time to submit its reply. “Other applications will be heard this week,” said the police source.
As of now, 14 persons have faced arrest for their involvement in the protest and bailed out thereafter.
