BICHOLIM: Bicholim Police along with the Veterinary Department on Sunday raided two places in Bicholim and seized beef weighing around 150 kg.
According to the available information, the police and Bicholim veterinary doctor, Dr Rajesh Keni got a tip off from NGO that a person is selling beef illegally at Muslimwada. Accordingly, the police along with the doctor arrived at the spot.
During inspection, it was found that the person was selling the beef in unhygienic condition and without any licence or permit.
Dr Keni conducted the panchanama and informed that the beef will be disposed of after the court order. Later, the team also raided a slaughter house at Nagzarwada, Bicholim.
“From Muslimwada we have seized hooks, knifes and beef. At Nagzarwada we found that the owner was not having the FSSAI approved slaughter house certificate. The certificate that he showed had only some stamp but no proper letter head. So we confiscated the beef and it will also be disposed off, he said.”
Bicholim PI, Sanjay Dalvi informed that the offenders have been arrested and further investigation is on.
