1,500 results changed in 3 years, Rs 60 lakh earned

PANJIM: The Goa government has earned nearly Rs 60 lakh through verification of SSC and HSSC examination answer sheets from 2011 to 2014, but what’s interesting is that more than 1,500 results were rectified through this process.

Sources said that in the three years, 978 SSC candidates had applied for verification of answer sheets with the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education of which 1,108 changes were made. This led to change in results of nearly 822 candidates. Similarly, results of over 50 per cent of the 500-odd applications of HSSC students were rectified after verification during the same period.
The Goa Board officials have denied negligence or corruption, though there are allegations that verification is probably an attempt to earn revenue.
