Scooter rider Vivek Bicholkar and pillion rider Sarvesh Kudav died on the spot when the truck loaded with metal collided with their scooter.
The accident occurred on the national highway at Camarkhajan junction around 11 am. Kudav (36) is a resident of Shell in Bastora and Bicholkar (26) is a resident of Karkyachawada, Revora.
According to Mapusa police, the truck was proceeding towards Panjim and the scooter was coming from the opposite direction. A few metres from Camarkhajan junction the truck driver lost control and hit the scooter.
Pillion rider Kudav was flung off the scooter and fell on the road and died on the spot. The truck dragged the scooter and Bicholkar and crushed him between the water pipeline.
Mapusa police have registered an offence against the truck driver Pramod Sawant and arrested him.
