2 injured in clashes at Bicholim

BICHOLIM (HC): Two persons were injured when preparations for the famous Shirgao Zatra at Bicholim led to clashes between two neighbouring families on Friday evening over the construction of a temporary shed in front of a house. Eleven persons have been arrested in this connection.

BICHOLIM (HC): Two persons were injured when preparations for the famous Shirgao Zatra at Bicholim led to clashes between two neighbouring families on Friday evening over the construction of a temporary shed in front of a house.
Eleven persons have been arrested in this connection.
According to Bicholim police, the incident took place when Naresh Chari of Shirgao started building a temporary shed in front of his house and started decorating the place, despite a long-pending controversy with his neighbour over the property.
His neighbour, Vishwadeep Chari, was enraged at this sight and tried to stop him.
A heated argument broke out between the two and this led to a scuffle.
Acting on a complaint by Naresh Chari, police later arrested 11 persons, Vishwadeep Chari, Shivram Chari, Swamitra Chari, Deepak Chari, Prabhavati Chari, Mayur Chari, Bhimavati Chari, Prakash Chari, Uday Chari, Suhasinin Chari and Somakant Chari.
Ramakant Chari and Lalita Chari who were injured were shifted to Asilo hospital at Mapusa.
“We have arrested them in connection with unlawful assembly and assault case and we are trying to resolve the issue,” PSI T P Walke told Herald. Hawaldar G L Joshi is investigating the case.
