To make the Assembly proceedings paperless, the MLAs have been directed to send their questions online with replies too sent online to them, Assembly Speaker Rajendra Arlekar said on Wednesday.
Addressing the press advisory committee Wednesday evening, Arlekar said that the Legislative Assembly has made an effort to make Assembly sessions paperless, wherein in the first phase the questions and replies to them are being sent online to the MLAs concerned.
“A two-day training session for the legislators was organized, wherein they were trained about use of online method for sending their questions,” Speaker said adding “nearly 50 percent questions and answers are being replied online.” In the next phase, media would be served with online question sets with replies, the Arlekar stated.
The Budget session scheduled from July 22 to August 21 will have 21 days sittings, where there will be demands presented, a general discussion on Budget held and voting on the budget.
The Legislature Department has received 1280 un-starred questions, and 720 starred questions. Each MLA is restricted to ask 18 questions per day, which include three starred questions and 15 un-starred questions, the Speaker said.
Arlekar said that the Business Advisory Committee that met recently has curtailed session end timing till 6.00pm. The House will meet daily from 11.00 am onwards.
During the session the Government is likely to introduce amendment to the Goa Panchayat Raj act and the Municipality Act over reservation and delimitation of wards for local election. There are also talks about the Police bill being introduced in the coming session of the Goa Assembly.
