MARGAO: Twenty-two Verna residents suffered food poisoning after consuming chicken rolls served after a prayer service at a house in the village
on Wednesday.
The affected people had been to the house of Judith Rebello for ‘Saibin’. They all complained of stomach cramps and vomiting on Thursday morning. Fifteen of them were taken to Hospico Hospital, Margao and the rest were taken to GMC, Bambolim. One of the affected was discgharged, on Thursday evening, while the rest are under observation.
Doctors informed that the affected have a stomach infection, which made them vomit, and that they will get well within two days.
According to information, the chicken rolls were bought at St Lourence bakery in Agacaim for the Saibin. The bakery owner has claimed that nothing was wrong with the chicken rolls supplied
by him.
